Anna Maria Island is made up of a few neighborhoods but due to the transient nature of vacation rentals it can be difficult to find a community of neighbors on Anna Maria Island. Below I will go City by City for areas that promote a more permanent resident.
Bradenton Beach has a few neighborhoods which are East of Gulf Drive. South of 30th street North on Avenue A, B and C to 21st tend to promote more of a neighborhood feel although there are several sections in that area that are vacation rentals. South of that area where the island narrows have many vacation rentals and less permanent residents. (Note, 30th is officially Holmes Beach however for ease of location I have included in Bradenton Beach)
Holmes Beach by far have the most neighborhoods on Anna Maria Island. If knowing your neighbors is a goal of your Anna Maria Island home then Holmes Beach is an easy pick. R1 and R1AA are a mixture of one month rental minimums as well as 6 month rental minimums. While there are areas in the R1 area close to the beach, those areas are surrounded by vacation rentals. For the best area look in the 5th block of Holmes Beach from Key Royale Drive to 83rd street. Key Royale has been one month rental
minimums since its construction in the 1960’s and North Point which is at the North end of Key Royale has a 6 month rental minimum. The canal properties from 67th to 83rd have been one month rental minimums since 2015 and slowly converting more and more to non vacation rental homes. Please note, regardless of which area you choose there are vacation rentals in these mentioned areas but by far the majority of homes are not vacation rentals and promote the typical traits of a neighborhood.
Anna Maria City up until 10 years ago had a great deal of permanent residents however slowly as properties change hands, vacation rentals have taken their place and they are quite prevalent in the city. There is on enclave of more permanent residents along South Bay Blvd along with Blue Heron and properties on the West side of South Bay up to Villa Rosa way.
